Design Projects

As an actor and content creator I have had to market myself for streams and through my show reels, so within graphic and digital design I am self-taught, I am proficient in Canva and use that as my main design program but am hoping to learn Adobe Design. With Canva I have created my Extended Project Posters, Fliers and cast sheets along with more recent designs to help with efficiency n my current team leader position at Everyman Cinema. Through my photography A-Level I have experience in Adobe Photoshop. Along with digital design I have also had my experience within set, lighting and costume design through my EPQ, a project I really enjoyed.

Here you can see personal designs I have worked in the past few years:

Everyman Cinema Cheat Sheets

As a Team Leader and Everyman its my job to help out newbies coming in to get more comfortable with the flow of a past-paced environment, I designed these sheets to make the transition into the job smoother for them. It was really fun to design I didn't have anyone I needed to please and I could make them as pretty as I liked they just needed to be useful, and they proved to be for new hires AND other team members at the cinema, I know I use them daily to make sure I'm doing everything correctly.

Set and Lighting Design

Something I learnt, hands on, during my Extended Project in Theatre and Drama studies was Set and Lighting design. This was hard but I had so much fun learning about it. Luckily, I had help from the most talented technician I know, Daniel, he was so great guiding me through the process and I really learnt a lot.

One of the biggest challenges was safety, I made sure crash matts were around when needs be but thankfully my cast was incredibly sensible. Lighting was fun, I played with different colours and atmospheres but with the vibe of the show we knew wed be going with something more quirky and that would leave the audience feeling uneasy, the dark colours mixing the warm and cold tones of the reds and purples made a really spooky atmosphere.

For the more 'natural' and 'conventional' scenes when none of the characters were going on a crazy rampage, as the show takes place in a forest, I used a dark green tone to still reflect the dark themes of the show but also bring out the naturalness of the forest.

Costume Design

Now, this was difficult, with an already limited budget and a working from a very private school uniform (kilts and green tweed blazers) we had to work with what we had. My designs reflected a lot of the characters wearing regular high school uniforms, short grey/black skirts for the girls, trousers for the boys and the non-binary characters, whatever my cast had on hand and felt comfortable in. Luckily, my cast had a lot on hand, all I had to use my budget for was a few skirts and some ties, very useful.

A lot of the costumes had to reflect the story of the show as the stage stayed stagnant the entire show. Meaning, for characters such as 'Phil' who is driven closer and closer to insanity throughout 'D.N.A', his shirt would become scruffy, his tie getting looser and hair getting messier. Phil is a very prominent character in the story even though he has the least lines so a lot of who he is needs to be shown with his costume and body language.

Widgets of my character were not done by me but a very talented artist i worked with during this time!

A big thing I had to learn as a content creator and streamer was how to market myself to an audience and create a brand. A lot of the time the streams that I would mainly market were my 12-24 hour fundraising streams for different charities so I had to keep up a smart looking appearance whilst also capturing my vibe at the time.

At 16-19, whilst I was streaming I was by all means not at perfect at designing but I learnt a lot by just creating and that's something I love to do.

Twitch Layouts Business

During my time as a streamer I had a small business on the side to earn money (so i could buy more games) I would create layouts in different styles for my fellow streamers, or I would even do commisions.

This was a really fun, short-term thing I did and it really sparked a love for creating digitally.
